Privacy Policy

Overview

Aether is a personal cannabis session journal built by Dead Pixel Design. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We collect only what the app needs to function. We do not sell your data.

Aether is intended for adults 21 or older in jurisdictions where cannabis is legal. By using this app you confirm that your use complies with local law.

What we collect

• ✦Account: Your email address and a hashed password, managed by Supabase Auth.
• ✦Profile: A username, optional display name, optional bio, and optional avatar photo you provide.
• ✦Session logs: Strains, consumption method, dose, effects, ratings, notes, and photos you log. These are private by default; you control what you make public.
• ✦Terpene data: Terpene percentages parsed from product label photos you submit for OCR scanning.
• ✦Dispensary data: Dispensaries you add or favorite in the Observatory map.
• ✦Social activity: Accounts you follow, sessions you like, comments you post, and seshes you join or host.
• ✦Push subscriptions: Browser push notification subscription tokens if you opt in to notifications.
• ✦Usage data: Aggregate page-view and event analytics collected by Vercel Analytics (no personally identifiable information).

Location data

Aether does not track your location continuously. Location is used only when you actively search for dispensaries in the Observatory feature. Search queries are proxied through our server to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim API. We do not store your coordinates. The dispensary map is client-rendered using Leaflet; your position is never sent to our servers.

Photos

Photos you upload (session photos, label scans, avatar) are stored in a private Supabase Storage bucket. Your own photos are always accessible to you via time-limited signed URLs. Photos attached to public sessions are visible to other logged-in Aether users. Label photos are sent to Google Cloud Vision for OCR text extraction; they are not stored by Google beyond the API call.

AI features

The Pharmacopoeia strain recommendation feature sends your goal query to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a recommendation. Queries are not linked to your account on Anthropic's side. Anthropic's usage policies apply to content processed through their API.

How we use your data

• To operate the app and display your journal back to you.
• To enable social features you opt into (public sessions, follows, seshes).
• To send push notifications you subscribe to.
• To improve the app using aggregate usage analytics.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Data retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, session logs, photos, and social data are deleted from our database. Some residual copies may persist briefly in backups.

Your rights

You can edit or delete your own sessions, comments, and profile at any time within the app. To request complete account and data deletion, email us at contact@loveaether.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Children

Aether is not intended for anyone under 21 (or the applicable legal age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
